Founder & Leading Instructor
Dr. Ran Hong's lifelong passion for physics has fueled a distinguished career as both a groundbreaking researcher and an exceptional educator. His journey began with early success, culminating in a bronze award at the Chinese Physics Olympiad in 2004. He pursued his love for physics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, earning his bachelor's degree in 2009. He then advanced to the University of Washington, Seattle, where he earned his Ph.D. in 2016 through his research in experimental nuclear physics. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Hong joined Argonne National Laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on high-energy physics. Currently, he serves as an accelerator controls engineer at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory. Since 2017, Dr. Hong has dedicated himself to nurturing the next generation of physicists through his US Physics Olympiad training courses. His mentorship has produced remarkable results, including two U.S. Physics Team members, four gold medalists, and numerous silver and bronze medalists. Dr. Hong's unwavering commitment to scientific education drives him to continually enhance his existing programs and innovate new initiatives to inspire young students.
